Moscow, Russia

Moscow

I arrived in Moscow on 1st March. It was cold grey and miserable. The weather quickly improved however and before long, armed with my trusty map I had cracked the Metro and was travelling all over the city. Amongst the sights I visited were:

  • Red Square, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, St.Basil's Cathedral, The Gum shopping centre, Lenin's Mausoleum (he looked very peaceful!!)
  • Graveyard of Fallen Monuments (Statues of Lenin etc..)
  • Gorky Park (including the Buran - Russian Space Shuttle)
  • Military Museum
  • Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics

After being in Moscow for about a week, I then met up with an organised tour / trip that a friend had won as a prize in a raffle. The tour was fully escorted and took in some of the places which I had already seen. The one place that I had avoided seeing on my own was the Kremlin. The Kremlin was wonderful and its well worth having a guide to show you around to fully appreciate the wonderful sights and exhibitions displayed there.
I continued my journey by taking the overnight train to St. Petersburg.
