St. Petersburg, Russia

St.Petersburg

It was the 300th anniversary of the city in 2003 and there was a lot of building and restoration work going on for the celebrations later in the year. We started out with a city tour to get an idea of the layout and later visited the Hermitage Museum a truly stunning place which really needs at least 3 days to even get a reasonable idea of the treasures displayed there. We also visited a Vodka museum and had a farewell dinner and drink with Bella our host.

The group tour finished in St.Petersburg and I made my way back to Moscow by train to catch a connecting "Baikal" train to Irkutsk.
